BOOK REVIEW: THE SCATTERED AND THE DEAD by L.T. Vargus and Tim McBain

I’ve been on the mailing list for this pair for a while now (I honestly don’t remember where I found them any more, or when) and I’m sure this book has been on my Kindle for just as long. I’m always up for a good look into post-apocalyptic nightmares, zombies, you know, whatever the end of the world brings. Everyone has their own view and it’s absolutely fascinating. So this seemed to be right up my alley. If nothing else, I always like to give any author the benefit of the doubt for a book, if I’ve ended up on their mailing list and they haven’t irritated me too much during whatever emails I’ve received. (It’s happened, y’all. But that’s a post for another day.)

This started out with so much promise.

BOOK REVIEW: LOKI BOUND by Charity Ayres

I was provided a copy of this book free of charge from the author in exchange for my honest review.

I will admit, Marvel and Tom Hiddleston have made me perk up and pay attention when Loki’s name is mentioned around me. Even apart from the Avengers movies, I’ve enjoyed learning more about the original character, the trickster god, through other re-tellings and myths. Loki is exactly the kind of character I love to watch—loving to cause trouble, but not too much. So seeing another story where Loki can take a main-stage place in modern times was absolutely a draw.

Unfortunately, it seems to only be just that. (Mild spoilers beneath the cut.)
