Guest Post – on NaNoWriMo!

Here’s where the writing blog gets fun.

As November inches closer, I’m going to both be more busy and hopefully more prolific here, getting ready for the National Novel Writing Month. And of course to start… I wrote somewhere else! XD

Denise Drespling is a fellow MFA student with me, and an exceptionally talented writer. (To my recollection, part of her manuscript made the entire classroom cringe – possibly including our unflappable Irish mentor. That’s real talent, people.) As NaNo got closer, she approached me about writing a guest post for her blog, talking about my experience with NaNoWriMo, and what I could say to expect from a November spent noveling.

I…may have gotten a little carried away.

As you can see from my post, I’ve been invested with this organization for my entire higher education career. It’s a major part of who I am and what I’ve become. So – I won’t recap it all for you, just link you to her blog and tell you to check it out.

While you’re there, don’t just read my stuff. Denise has some awesome insights on writing and the trade, and I very much encourage everyone to follow her as well. And for all of us, I hope that this is a good kick-off for November.

…Though you can expect one from me over here, before November. 😀

  1. You’re too sweet, Rion! And if you’re referring to the kitten scene, I actually chopped it. Carlo’s comment was something along the lines of, “Let’s keep it to one animal mutilation per book.” It’s not like it was gory or anything! 😉 Less than one week until the start of NaNoWriMo!
