FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful Thursday – Ugly Duckling

I’m not sure where I wanted to go with this, and I don’t know where in any established time line this might take place, but it’s Celita and Tarenthal from QUEST TO KARANTIRI, sometime in her first visit to the elven woods. As usual, prompt is taken from Lyn Thorne-Alder’s Thimbleful Thursday, and I love her dearly for having this place to share fiction.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Runs in the Family

This one is over word count. I had a good cut-off point and my characters viscerally rebelled against me. I don’t like cutting them off if I don’t have to.

As always, this is pulled from Lyn Thorne-Alder’s Thimbleful Thursday prompts. My prompt takes place in the world of Karantiri, but it’s from a similar time period as “Iron Out the Difficulty.” Enjoy!

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Sword of Damocles

I’ve had the song of the same name from Rocky Horror stuck in my head ever since I saw the prompt. Now just to write something that isn’t a boy toy in gold lamΓ© hot pants.

Again, this prompt is pulled from the ever-talented Lyn Thorne-Alder’s Thimbleful Thursday posts, which are truly designed to save unimaginative wrecks like me. πŸ™‚ The original challenge is 500 words. I somehow doubt I’ll stay within that.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Peace and Quiet

I have no idea how close to the word count I am. *checks* Okay I’m like 150 or so over. So sue me. πŸ˜‰ I wasn’t sure what to do with this one, but it ended up being some foreshadowing (and some future peeks of what’s to come) in the Karantiri world. Idiom of the week is “peace and quiet.” Enjoy! πŸ™‚

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Turn Over a New Leaf/Hold Your Fire

These two were short, so I’ve smooshed them together into one mega-microfic. (*cough*) It follows my dearly beloved Tarenthal of the Karantiri stories, very early in his time in the Kalvarine woods.

As always, check out Thimbleful Thursday, and all of Lyn’s projects.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Nest Egg

Another lovely Thimbleful Thursday prompt. I went over word count again, because I’m bad at flash fiction. >.> Only by like…120 though? That’s better than usual?

Anywho, this is in the world of RATHER LARGE PUDDLE, set post-book. I’d say there are spoilers, but I’ve been talking about this book for so long and it’s an obvious romance ending, so one would imagine you’d figure this out anyway.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – May/December

Not sure why this was as hard as it was, but here we are. Thimbleful Thursday prompt was May/December. I have no clue who these characters are, but they’re adorable.

FICTION FRIDAY: Flashback Edition, “Who Conditions the Air?”

I can’t recall if I’ve shared this on here or not, but it’s always been a bit of a personal favorite. I can’t exactly say it’s terribly good, but it was a good idea and I don’t think I ever caught that lightning. I’ll leave it for you, though. Half short story and half slam poem, I think I wrote this back in 2013, during my first residency in grad school. (I at least remember reading it then.)

FICTION FRIDAY: WRONG NUMBER AU (kinda)

So it’s not so much an AU (alternate universe) and more just…I have no idea if this could possibly ever happen in the course of the novel. Part of that is because I haven’t finished it. Part is because I have no idea where the book is going. So I just sat down and started babbling about these characters for a while. Short summary: Chelsea Holbrook got a new phone, got weird messages, and promptly got dragged into an underground war between two factions hell-bent against one another, because the bad guys thought she was someone else. The Defenders/Havadar are the good guys. Rani is the main bad guy. I think that’s good enough. XD

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful Thursday – Labor of Love

Sooooooo this one is a solid like…100 words over where the TTH prompt wanted me but I GOT CARRIED AWAY I’M SORRY. I’m still really pleased with this, though, and it’s started to give me some ideas for a book I’ve been wanting to write for years now. I’ll let you be the judge of who these characters are.
