FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Turn Over a New Leaf/Hold Your Fire

These two were short, so I’ve smooshed them together into one mega-microfic. (*cough*) It follows my dearly beloved Tarenthal of the Karantiri stories, very early in his time in the Kalvarine woods.

As always, check out Thimbleful Thursday, and all of Lyn’s projects.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Nest Egg

Another lovely Thimbleful Thursday prompt. I went over word count again, because I’m bad at flash fiction. >.> Only by like…120 though? That’s better than usual?

Anywho, this is in the world of RATHER LARGE PUDDLE, set post-book. I’d say there are spoilers, but I’ve been talking about this book for so long and it’s an obvious romance ending, so one would imagine you’d figure this out anyway.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – May/December

Not sure why this was as hard as it was, but here we are. Thimbleful Thursday prompt was May/December. I have no clue who these characters are, but they’re adorable.

FICTION FRIDAY: Flashback Edition, “Who Conditions the Air?”

I can’t recall if I’ve shared this on here or not, but it’s always been a bit of a personal favorite. I can’t exactly say it’s terribly good, but it was a good idea and I don’t think I ever caught that lightning. I’ll leave it for you, though. Half short story and half slam poem, I think I wrote this back in 2013, during my first residency in grad school. (I at least remember reading it then.)

FICTION FRIDAY: WRONG NUMBER AU (kinda)

So it’s not so much an AU (alternate universe) and more just…I have no idea if this could possibly ever happen in the course of the novel. Part of that is because I haven’t finished it. Part is because I have no idea where the book is going. So I just sat down and started babbling about these characters for a while. Short summary: Chelsea Holbrook got a new phone, got weird messages, and promptly got dragged into an underground war between two factions hell-bent against one another, because the bad guys thought she was someone else. The Defenders/Havadar are the good guys. Rani is the main bad guy. I think that’s good enough. 😄

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful Thursday – Labor of Love

Sooooooo this one is a solid like…100 words over where the TTH prompt wanted me but I GOT CARRIED AWAY I’M SORRY. I’m still really pleased with this, though, and it’s started to give me some ideas for a book I’ve been wanting to write for years now. I’ll let you be the judge of who these characters are.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Keep at Arm’s Length/Just For the Record

These two went together too well, so I had to put them together. (Sorry Lyn, I’m bending your rules!) One had a 100 word limit and the other 200, so my goal is to stay within 10% of 300 words. Here goes! This is in the world of OFF THE RECORD, probably pretty late in the game.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Have a Blast/Rose Colored Glasses

These two were short (200 and 300) prompts, so I figured I’d mush them together! Again, these are taken from the Thimbleful Thursday page, run by my dear friend and beloved author Lyn Thorne-Alder, who I heartily recommend you check out. (Both her stuff, and of course the TTH page. Because it’s fun! And good. Yes.) So prompt #1 is…a new world, I guess. No clue; it’s not an established setting. And prompt #2 is from NOBLESSE OBLIGE’s world. Enjoy!

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Daylight Robbery

Literally had never heard the turn of phrase that way, but a quick Wiki search tells me it’s another form of “highway robbery”! Neato.

So today I’m delving back into one of my few published worlds, because I miss these characters and they deserve more page time. Soren Avalon, digital supervillain, and his significant other, Officer Jake Harker. (Yes, Jake knows Soren’s a bad guy. It’s…complicated.) A little longer than it should have been. Raise your hand if you’re surprised.

Read My Book, Please

Any time I get a chance to speak to a published author, whether they be traditionally published or not, I always have a tendency to ask the same question. I ask because I still haven’t really gotten a good answer, and it’s an important one to me. Particularly since it’s likely that I’m going to be self-publishing my debut novel (so soon. It’s so weird to probably be so soon) this is one of the most important skills I need to have…and no one can give me an answer on it.

How do you publicize your book?
