FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful Thursday – Ugly Duckling

I’m not sure where I wanted to go with this, and I don’t know where in any established time line this might take place, but it’s Celita and Tarenthal from QUEST TO KARANTIRI, sometime in her first visit to the elven woods. As usual, prompt is taken from Lyn Thorne-Alder’s Thimbleful Thursday, and I love her dearly for having this place to share fiction.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Runs in the Family

This one is over word count. I had a good cut-off point and my characters viscerally rebelled against me. I don’t like cutting them off if I don’t have to.

As always, this is pulled from Lyn Thorne-Alder’s Thimbleful Thursday prompts. My prompt takes place in the world of Karantiri, but it’s from a similar time period as “Iron Out the Difficulty.” Enjoy!

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Nest Egg

Another lovely Thimbleful Thursday prompt. I went over word count again, because I’m bad at flash fiction. >.> Only by like…120 though? That’s better than usual?

Anywho, this is in the world of RATHER LARGE PUDDLE, set post-book. I’d say there are spoilers, but I’ve been talking about this book for so long and it’s an obvious romance ending, so one would imagine you’d figure this out anyway.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – May/December

Not sure why this was as hard as it was, but here we are. Thimbleful Thursday prompt was May/December. I have no clue who these characters are, but they’re adorable.

FICTION FRIDAY: Thimbleful – Have a Blast/Rose Colored Glasses

These two were short (200 and 300) prompts, so I figured I’d mush them together! Again, these are taken from the Thimbleful Thursday page, run by my dear friend and beloved author Lyn Thorne-Alder, who I heartily recommend you check out. (Both her stuff, and of course the TTH page. Because it’s fun! And good. Yes.) So prompt #1 is…a new world, I guess. No clue; it’s not an established setting. And prompt #2 is from NOBLESSE OBLIGE’s world. Enjoy!

Read My Book, Please

Any time I get a chance to speak to a published author, whether they be traditionally published or not, I always have a tendency to ask the same question. I ask because I still haven’t really gotten a good answer, and it’s an important one to me. Particularly since it’s likely that I’m going to be self-publishing my debut novel (so soon. It’s so weird to probably be so soon) this is one of the most important skills I need to have…and no one can give me an answer on it.

How do you publicize your book?

FICTION FRIDAY: Origin Story

I’ve been toying with this idea for a little while, essentially since someone from my past had a whole faux conversation with me about how this might happen and why. I don’t remember most (if really any) of our original conversation, and unlike most other correspondence with my friends, this actually happened aloud, so it’s lost to space and time. But I’m going to try and recreate a pivotal moment for one of my lead baddies from one of my novel projects. I’ve always loved the concept, and it’s about time I get the scene at least first-drafted onto “paper.”

God, I’d forgotten how much I liked this character.

Fiction Friday: Hide and Seek

I’ve been scouring the Internet for interesting prompts, and this one called out to me for some reason. I’ve been bouncing around with some ideas for it, but I’m still not sure it’s going to evolve past what I have here. I hope it does; I’ve had fun with it! But I’m just not quite sure yet.

Anyway, the prompt for this one was: “They were playing hide and seek when he disappeared. She spent the rest of her life looking for him.”

As always, I welcome your own snippets of fiction in the comments! Let me see what you come up with!

Fiction Friday: Even Broken Hearts

So I’m a little early for Valentine’s day, but the post you’ll read on Monday got me inspired, so here’s a little FF treat for you. It’s the same characters as from the romance chapter from last Friday, just at a different point in their lives. I’m a sucker for an HEA, so I doubt this is spoilers, but…just so you know…at least for this piece, they’re together. Do with that information what you will. Enjoy!

“I don’t want to be morbid.”

“It’s not morbid!” I looked over at her, and somehow she managed to look sincere. “I know how important she is to you. I’m not going to expect her to just vanish from your brain.”

Chapter 1 – Experiment

So I’m writing a romance novel, slowly but surely. I’ll likely publish it under a different name (because…reasons) but I’ll share the first chapter of it with you here. Maybe you’ll find it on your shelves someday…

We meet our male protagonist here: Nathan. He’s got a long history of being in my head, and I’m excited to give him his own story.
