Heeeeeey!

Hey guys…*slinks in*

Sorry for the massive silence! I’m hoping to have a video up sometime in the next few days as well around my work schedule, but I totally allowed my work to eat me alive.

In October I started working at a café, and I haven’t worked a job with those kind of schedules in a long time – not consistent hours, spending hours on my feet, all that jazz. It left me worn out, and I was never around during the hours I like to record. (Especially since I haven’t gotten any decent lighting yet.) The videos fell by the wayside – as did any reading/writing.

And then November happened. I think I at least checked in a few times in November to say how NaNoWriMo was going (I did reach 50k, despite all my fears that I wouldn’t) but needless to say I wasn’t doing much else beside working and trying to write.

By December, I was totally worn out. I got a little more reading done, but I still wasn’t writing much. But I had to do a bunch of related work–because December 11th was my MFA thesis defense. That took up all my energy between the end of November and then, and by the time I was done, I was in full preparation for Christmas.

And now here we sit, at the end of December and almost in the New Year, and I’m finally feeling like I’ve hit a stride. It helps that I got a Kindle HD for Christmas, and then we had two car rides to and from Pittsburgh for me to read many a book on. (Finally got through the second Song of Ice and Fire book, at long freaking last.) I’m about 3 books away from my Goodreads reading goal, something I never expected to reach once I fell so behind this summer, and I’m determined to get some reviews up now that January is on my heels. I have a whole list of books I’ve read and need to review, and with luck, I’ll have one up either later this week or next week–on Wednesday, like they always used to be. Since I actually have the review written, this shouldn’t get delayed like everything else I “promise” you. *sigh*

I have some ideas for 2016, things I’ve been tossing around for probably 3 years now in some cases, and with luck I’ll be able to pull them off. Now that I’ve got my degree, it’s time to buckle down and be a professional, yeah?

Man. When did I get to be some kind of adult thing? I’m not sure I approve.

In any event, with luck, you’ll be seeing more of me soon. Thanks for hanging in, and I’ll see you in the next post.
