Inspiration Wednesday: Rest

So I’ve been pretty quiet in the Internet sphere since last Tuesday or so. I haven’t been writing. I haven’t been editing. I have been working out, but not enough the counteract how much food I’ve been eating. And you know what?

I’m glad of it.

Inspiration Wednesday: Other Authors

All right, I promise that one of these days I’ll stop harping on and on about one author over and over again. But I wanted to write this up, and this seems like a good enough place. It almost takes over Thursday’s post about writing as well, but I won’t let it. But the simple version of this week’s inspiration is just this: In order to be good writers, we not only have to write a lot…but we also have to read a lot. It’s one of the most commonly repeated bits of advice I’ve heard in all my various sources and talks and classes. It’s a simple equation: if we want to write books, we have to read some to know what we’re writing. And what better way to find inspiration than in some of our favorite authors? I’ll be looking at a few authors over time, but this post is devoted to the one author I’m sure my readers are absolutely sick of hearing about: M.C.A. Hogarth. (I’M SORRY. I JUST REALLY LIKE HER.) But she’s getting this honor over the others for a very interesting reason.

Inspiration Wednesday – Motion pt. 2

So I talked last week about a little thing you can do in order to keep your mood up and get the writing flowing. Dancing is always good for that. It’s low space-needing, and pretty much everyone has either an mp3 player or access to Youtube. (Or some other way of getting music. Not knocking all you vinyl enthusiasts out there.)

But what about when you want something¬†more than just jiving around your room? What about if you’ve been in the same room/office/den for the past six days and you just need to do¬†something, anything else?

Here’s an answer–and it’s not something you’d ever expect to hear me say.

Inspiration Wednesdays: Dance Break!

I’ve decided to move my old inspiration newsletter to a blog post instead, thus consolidating and making for a better archive. The standard format will change a bit, however, now that it’s on the blog. Since Thursdays are usually set aside for writing help and tips of the trade, as it were, I’m not going to try and burn myself out by doing that two days in a week. (In a row, nonetheless.) So instead, I’m going to try and post something inspirational, or something that I think particularly helps me in my writing, along with a prompt. Sound like a plan to everyone? Good.
