BOOK REVIEW: THE NOBLE THRONE by Yessi Smith and Logan Keys

I meant to have this review up a while ago, since I was lucky enough to snag an ARC of it, but life conspired against me (as is so often the case) and alas, I can only get it to you now. But a review! Woo! First review of 2018!

I’ll be completely upfront and say that I’m generally a little iffy on shifter books. (I’m not sure I actually knew this was properly a shifter book until after I got the ARC.) As has always been my lot, I’m willing to give anything a few fair shots, just because the genres are so varied that it’s not fair to judge them all off of only one or two books. I’d seen a lot of good things about Logan Keys, one of the co-authors, and so I figured this was a safe one to start with.

BOOK REVIEW: AN HEIR TO THORNS AND STEEL by M.C.A. Hogarth

Guess what! Just what you’ve all been waiting for! ANOTHER MCAH REVIEW no but seriously, I’ve gotten a new trilogy of hers, and she’s got a big promo for one of them right around now, and THIS IS THE TIME TO BE TALKING ABOUT MICAH. *coughs* Just saying.

In any event, if you’ve been on the blog for any length of time, you’ll know that M.C.A. Hogarth is one of my all-time favorite authors. I’ve always up to read and review her work, and it’s been a while since I delved into anything. (Mea culpa, mea culpa.) Having spent as much time in her Pelted universe, stepping outside of it–no matter how sure I am of her talent–is a little unnerving. The Blood Ladders trilogy is definitely not the Peltedverse, and AN HEIR TO THORNS AND STEEL is book one of Morgan Locke’s adventure into worlds he truly never believed to be completely real.

BOOK REVIEW: Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer

I’ve never read any of Jodi Picoult’s work before, though a quick look at a Books-A-Million the other day showed me that I’d be willing to at least give them a shot. So when Between the Lines and its sequel Off the Page started showing up in my BookTube world, I didn’t quite know what to expect. But since it’s about falling in love with characters in a book, and it’s a mother/daughter co-written story, I was excited to pick it up.

It did not disappoint.

So let’s not waste words! Straight to the preview! (This is a shorter chapter, I will warn you!)

Prompt Call for February

In preparation for the premiere of my web serial, Quest to Karantiri, I’m hosting this month’s prompt call on “Magic, Elves, and Faeries.” As I said on the main page of the call – if you like fantasy settings, and want to know how your favorite aspect/race/idea/magic spell fits into my world, shoot me a prompt! I’ll be happy to write a story about how it fits (or doesn’t!) into the world.

As always, prompting is free, but there are added bonuses for donations.

Check out the call landing page here.

DOUBLE BOOK REVIEW: UNTIL AGAIN and BLUE by Lou Aronica

Normally, I wouldn’t put two book reviews together, but it’s been a while since I posted and these two books belong together. At the suggestion of my father, I read these two books, Blue and its prequel Until Again by Lou Aronica, over the course of two days. And even if I weren’t making a conscious effort to do more of these…these are two books that I can’t let pass by without commenting on.
